Roy David Cruze

Knoxville, TN

Roy David Cruze was born and lived in Knoxville all his life and graduated from Young High School. He attended the University of Tennessee until being invited to join the US Navy where he flew with the Airborne Early Warning Barrier Squadron, Pacific. He chuckled alleging that he was the only one who could cook so he was designated as the flight chef. Following his military service he was employed by Rohm and Haas where he later retired to live the simple life in the log cabin he called Serene Squalor. He cooked, catered events, gardened, loved and healed broken stray animals, fed thousands of birds, traveled the world and frequently spoke with loved ones near and far on the phone. David is preceded in death by parents Jack Melton and Willie Ruth Fair Cruze and sister Jackie Lynn Cruze Lowe. Like his dad, David had a way with words and was a teller of stories. He will be missed but David's memories and stories will be laughingly and lovingly recounted by his surviving brother-in-law, Bobby Lynn Lowe, his Cruze and Fair cousins and many wonderful long-time friends. Per David's request there will be no service. His remains will be privately buried in the Cruze Family Cemetery located on his property. Memorials may be sent to Knox Area Rescue Ministries, P.O. Box 3310, Knoxville, TN 37927-3310. Arrangements by Cremation Options, Inc. (865)6WE-CARE (693-2273) www.cremationoptionsinc.com
