It’s been almost 2 years since you left and I think about you often. You were such a good boss. You were the best business man and stern at times but deep down inside you had a heart of gold. I’ll always cherish the memory of visiting you and Wanda in your new home in LR and you showing me around. That was the last time I saw you. I wish you were still here so we could talk politics. You always had the best jokes. I miss you Mr. Roy. I’ll see you again some day.

I was hired as a junior accountant with Highland Resources and left five years later as accounting manager. Mr. Ledbetter taught me more during those years at the Highland Industrial Park division of Highland Resources than seven years of undergraduate (BSBA) and graduate (MBA) studies. He was a tough, deliberate negotiator who always put the company first. I observed his negotiating skills in securing leases for warehousing and industrial facilities. He was a great man who brought education (SAU Tech), industry and jobs to southwest Arkansas.
I moved away over thirty years ago but frequently check Camden obituaries (Proctor) to find Mr. Ledbetter passed.
My condolences and prayers are with you Sam and the Ledbetter family.

He was a mentor, coach, and someone to look up to. He inspired me to give all I had to something and I did. I really appreciated his help in getting summer jobs, going to U of A, and being commissioned in the US Army.

So sorry to hear about our loss. Coach became my friend and mentor while I was in high school. As on of his athletes, I wanted to be like him. His influence and friendship has been life-long and at 78 years of age I still, and will always be influenced by coach.
Sincerely
James Langley

Coach Ledbetter is what I call a man’s man. I played for him on our 4AA championship and remember him telling me never give up, give it 110%. That’s what I’ve tried to do in my life. Praying for you Sam and all the family!

Dear Sam and family, Mr. Ledbetter was such a good man, I know he will be greatly missed among his south Arkansas friends. As a CHS student, I remember him as a great coach, and later as the President of Highland Industrial Park. He was a supporter of the Ouachita County Historical Society and enjoyed attending the Cemetery Walk. We were fortunate Roy Ledbetter chose to live in Camden and shared his time and talents with us. Prayers for your family.

Sam,
It saddened me to see that Mr. Roy had passed away. There are so many things I could say about him and stories that I could tell. Working at Highland for 7 years brings back so many memories. Sitting at that switchboard at 7am in the morning, he would drive up in that diesel suburban and he would round that corner coming into the building with that big serious look on his face. A real businessman but he had a heart of gold. I will never forget his kindness that was shown to so many people that I was able to witness first hand. He sure left an impression on me and I thought the world of him. I will never forget Mr. Roy...especially when March rolls around because we always tried to celebrate his birthday. (which he would try to resist). Thoughts and prayers to your family.
