Roy O. Martin Jr.

We send our condolences to Roy's family with or deepest sympathy. We were cousins, though we didn't know it for 70 years. We became friends over the years. We are both WWII Veterans. Both "Sailors". He served on a surface vessel, I on a submarine. We shared our experiences from time to time. We knew him to be a man who cared greatly for people, especially those he employed. Wherever he went he made a difference. Now he has departed on Eternal Patrol, and part of us goes with him. God speed - smooth sailing dear friend.

We were the new members of the family when Roy and Vinita came to visit us in Irving, Texas. They were the sweetest couple and made us feel like they had known us forever. My father, Lester, and Roy stayed in touch writing letters back and forth. They will both be greatly missed and our heartfelt condolences go out to the family.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Roy O. Martin, Jr. our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Roy. And to Roy it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Coast Guard. Roy we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
