I just came across this while I was looking up news on what happened. I was able to make it into town for the funeral last month and didn't have the courage to come up to the family afterwards. I only met Roy once, but the stories I've read and heard are amazing. How could someone so young touch so many people? He was special. Remember what the guy said at the funeral - he's made the shot again! I wish you the best and I will pray for you.

Roy was a wondeful young man. I knew him from Martins and he was always so nice. He had a natural kindness and poise that many adults never achieve. I could see that he was truly a Christian and had been raised that way by a loving family. You must be very proud of him. It's hard to believe he is gone so soon and I miss him.

Dear Teresa Roy and Family,
My thoughts and prayers will be with you. I'm so glad that your mom called us Teresa. You kids will always be special to me. Our families share a very closeness that many don't. We don't stay in touch much but it is always known that if we are needed we are there. Prayer is so powerfull and this is what is needed most to help you heal. Peace be with you all.

Roy was a true amazing person. He always had a smile. He seemed to love making others happy as well. I got to know Roy through Effingham County Teen Court. He did a great service and put his heart in it. I enjoyed being part of Teen court with him. I will miss his smile at Martins. He always spoke and had that smile. I saw him just two days before the accident and I had to smile because I thought he looked sharp and of course he had to make sure I saw him!! So glad he did! He was dressed very nice and I had thought, he must have a date after work!! I know his girlfried meant the world to him. I got to see pictures often. He was always glad to show them. I know Roy is being the attorney that he always talked about being but in a better place.
My heart goes out to his family and friends. You all and always will be in my prayers.
GOD BLESS!!!

Roy was a sweet smile that entered the room. I only knew him for a short timeat LakeLand. Smart as a whip he could play solitare on his computer while the Proffesor lectured, and still get what was going on. I hope God saw to it that he was issued a top of the line computer when he arrived. May you know that your son was a blessing to many just as he passed them by.

Nothing can describe the way you acted. Nothing can describe the words you said. Why? Because you were very unique. When I first met you, you wanted to whoop my butt because you were looking out for Karyssa. That shows your bravery and support towards all your close friends and family that you have. To all of Roy's Family and friends out there, let his memory lay within your hearts forever and ever.

Rogers Family,
I remember meeting Roy out at the bowling alley back when I was in sixth grade. He was too shy to come and talk to me so he made Clayton come up and ask me for my email address. Roy always carried his smile and he was an inspiration to all. He treated his sisters like queens and he loved you all so much. He was my best friend and my role model, I loved him lots. We'll pray for all of you, need anything just ask.

Theresa and Roy,
I was so saddened to hear that Little Roy had passed. Nothing I say can make it any better, but I will always see Roy as the little boy that snuck in the door behind his mom at the clinic, pushing up his glasses and flashing that huge smile of his. He was always such a polite little guy and full of so many questions! He had such a good heart.
I hope you are able to find peace in this difficult time.
God Bless.

A Family Is
a deeply rooted tree with branches of different strength all receiving nourishment from an infinite source.
where character is formed, values are learned, ethics are created, and society is preserved.
where all members contributed and share, cooperate and work, and accept their responsibilities toward the good of the group.
where holidays acknowledged with gifts, and thoughts of the days gone by kept alive with fond remembrances.
where each can find solace and comfort in grief, pleasure and laughter in joy, and kindness and encouragement in
daily living.
a heaven of rest, a sanctuary of peace, and most of all, a harbor of love.

To Roy's Family I share in your sorrow.
The loss of a child is very hard and when we go looking for the answer we are not sure if we will ever find it. But as Christian Parents, I know you will find comfort in the arms of Jesus and I know that he will be with you and the the Holy Spirit shall hold you close.
I worked with Roy at the schools this summer and I know that he was a very hard working young man. I was impressed by his knowledge of computers and I know he was a very large plus for the district. I also know that he will be missed.
Yet in Roy's passing I know that there is joy and that is this. I know that when Jesus comes to take us home someday. We WILL see Roy again.
May the blessing of our God be with you.
Yours in Christ,

I had the opportunity to shuttle Roy to ITI a couple times and be his staff mentor when he was a Pals 2. I was so proud to call him my Pals 2 when he won the pals award. We spent many a night at ITI talking about camp but also about bowling and life. I always tried to get him to help with the local snowball and I think he would have...but he was just so busy. Guess he was shoving so much life into such a short time for a reason.
I talked to Roy a few weeks ago. He called to ask if he could use me as a reference for a job. (I'm assuming it was the IGA job.) He had asked me before and I had told him that he never even had to ask just use my name whenever he needed and I'd vouch for his work ethic and character. But he called to make sure... He was a gentleman to the last. I can't believe I'm never going to get calls like that again...you had such a bright future and the world is going to be a little darker without you. I'll miss you my friend.

Dear Roger's Family: I only knew Roy for a very short time, I sat next to him in class at Lake Land College for such a short time, but in that time Roy touched me greatly. To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Roy was in my psychology class last semester at LLC Kluthe. I was touched by his genuine sweetness. I am a single mother returning to school after being out for about 28 years. Roy treated me with the utmost respect while making me feel like one of the kids. I talked to Roy Thursday afternoon when he was working at Martin's IGA. To all of Roy's family and friends, please accept my heartfelt sympathy as I know first hand the pain you are feeling right now. I lost my oldest son when he was just fourteen. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Roy, Teresay, Darien, Halley,
May the Lord lift you up and give you strength. Trust in the Lord, Little Roy did. We know that He is now with His Lord, though it may not be at the time we wanted. May the Comforter surround you with His mighty arms and carry you through this troubling time. God's love is greater than our pain.

Roy And Theresa, i cannot exress how much sorrow goes into the news of the passing of your son. I got the great privilege and honor of getting to know your son during his stints at the IL. Teen Institute over the years. He will be missed and his name will be added to the tributes that we do year after year.

Roy and Family---Our hearts are so heavy for you and your family in this time of tragedy. There are no words that anyone could share that would make this an easy event to bear. May God's richest blessings be with you and the entire family as you struggle to come to grips with such a needless happening. All of your friends here at our plant in Florence, Alabama have you in our thoughts and prayers.

Roy was an inspiration to all those who were fortunate to know him. A wonderful, loving young man who had the biggest heart I've seen in a boy his age. He will be missed each and every day. May God grant peace and understanding to all that knew him. Bless his wonderful parents and two beautiful daughters and sweet girlfriend. Love to all.

Roy and Theresa, words will never really express how sorry we are for your loss, I only hope you are finding comfort with the fact that he is with God and loved more than ever. Here and in heaven. If you need anything, anything at all, I will be there. Please lean on your friends and family. We will see you on Monday.
