EDCOUCH-Ruben Hernandez 63, went to be with the Lord, Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg.
Ruben Hernandez was our fun-loving, dancing cowboy. Born on September 29, 1960, in Saginaw, Michigan, he was a beacon of joy and happiness. All who knew him best can attest to his easy-going personality.
His happiest times were spent at family gatherings, as he was the life of every party. A hard-working individual, Ruben dedicated himself to a career in truck-driving. Though his job called on him to be away for weeks and sometimes months at a time, he always managed to be home for the big family events and major holidays.
He was a man who relished in simple pleasures like frying up fish or barbecuing some fajitas any day of the week. He enjoyed fishing and hunting and taught his daughters, Michelle and Sarah, several nephews and his grandchildren to appreciate both activities.
Ruben leaves behind his wife of 43 years, Dalia Hernandez; his 2 daughters, Michelle (Brent) Bagsic and Sarah (Ismael) Castillo; his six grandchildren Victoria and RJ Casas, Noah and Jacob Castillo, and Brayden and Sebastian Bagsic, who will forever remember the man who taught them to appreciate the simpler things in life.
He is also survived by his siblings: Lily (Gilbert) Angulo, Ermelinda (Gerardo) Rodriguez, Josefina Hernandez, Diana Hernandez, Indelio, Jr. (Isabel) Hernandez; mother-in-law, Yolanda Gonzalez; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers-in law, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Indelio and Isabel Hernandez; his sister, Alicia Aguilar; his father-in-law, Armando Gonzalez.
For those of us who were fortunate to have known him, we will miss his contagious smile, his hilarious jokes and Jagger-like dance moves.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with a Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. at Serenity Funeral Chapel of Edcouch. Funeral Mass will be Thursday, February 1, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. at St Theresa of the Infant Jesus Catholic Church in Edcouch. Interment will follow to Val Verde Memorial Gardens in Donna.
