Ruben Robles Obituary
With a heart full of love, Ruben embraced life with enthusiasm and passion. He delighted in video games, WWE wrestling, and his favorite performers, John Cena, Buffalo Bills, and KISS, to name a few. Ruben also cherished his daily New Advances for People with Disabilities (NAPD) Program, where he formed lasting friendships over 40+ years with staff, peers, and clients, particularly his dear friend Sammy C. and family.
Music played a special role in Ruben's life, as he formed lasting bonds with many local musician brothers who were drawn to his infectious enthusiasm and love for melody.
Ruben's love for his family was evident in his excitement to share stories of his daily adventures and his eagerness to receive warm hugs upon returning home everyday. His family adored him, and he reveled in their company.
In 2022, Ruben faced a new challenge with his diagnosis of dementia. Despite this, his spirit remained unbroken, and his love for life continued to inspire those around him.
Ruben's legacy is one of unconditional love, acceptance, and joy. His family and friends will deeply miss him, but they take comfort in the countless memories and happiness he shared with them.

Ruben was a truly one-of-a-kind soul, and I had the pleasure of working with him for over five years. His infectious humor and vibrant personality made each day special, from the unforgettable moments of calling for Ruben to loading, only to hear him joke, "No John Cena," and having to call John Cena to loading for Ruben to come, to his brilliant Kiss performances that will forever be etched in my heart. Ruben's thoughtful nature shone through when he was saying his goodbyes by handing out little squishy pink hearts with smiles on them, one of which still sits on my desk. I´ll always remember walking with him on his last day at CCA as he transitioned to CDP, surrounded by everyone wishing him luck as he began a new chapter. Ruben´s spirit will be missed, but his legacy of kindness and laughter will never fade.

Ruben has touched everyone and brought many dear souls to our lives.
We are grateful to Bakersfield Community Hospice, our nurses who graced us with their loving care for Ruben; Adriana, Natali, Sophia, Marissa, Melissa, Yvonne. Our social friend, Carolyn and our guiding light, Chaplain Chris Frost. Your care and inspirations kept us strong for our baby brother and we looked forward to seeing you each visit.
Thank you Dr. Raju Patel, MD for your care and special attention to Ruben's needs throughout the years as his primary care physician.
Thank you Ruben for making life exciting.

I was out one day, don´t remember where but I ran into Ruben with his NAPD group. When he saw me he yelled that´s my friend! I got a hug and a handshake and he introduced me to some of his friends. Always had a big smile every time I got to see him!

Ruben had a signature style when I met him and that would be his Kiss Band Backpack. Seeing him walk around with his Backpack always made me smile of how precious he is. I will very much miss him and always have him engraved in my memories and heart.

While the collective hearts of the clients and staff at NAPD are heavy with sorrow, they are also full of gratitude for the time we were blessed to share with Ruben.
Ruben was one of God´s cherished gifts to this world, radiating joy and love. His enthusiasm for life was contagious, and he had a way of bringing people together-it was about connection, about sharing joy, and about celebrating the things that made life fun.
For more than 40 years, Ruben was a part of our family at New Advances for People with Disabilities (NAPD), where he formed friendships that stood the test of time. His bond to so many others was a testament to the love he poured into the people around him. He was a friend to many, a beloved presence in the community, and an inspiration to those who had the honor of knowing him. His energy, his spirit, and his appreciation for life brought people together in a way that only Ruben could.
And then, of course, there was his love for his family. His family was his heart, and they, in turn, adored him beyond measure. We appreciate all they meant to Ruben, all the love they bestowed upon him and their support for the other clients, the staff and the programs at NAPD.
Though Ruben has left this earthly life, his spirit lives on in the laughter he shared, the friendships he nurtured, and the love he gave so freely. Today, as we say goodbye, let us not dwell on the sadness of his passing but rather celebrate the beautiful life he lived. Let us carry forward his light, his kindness, and his joy.
Rest easy, Ruben. You are deeply loved and will be dearly missed, but your spirit will live on in each of us forever. Our task was to teach you but with your usual style you flipped the script on us and ending up teaching us way more than we ever taught you and our mission now is to pass those lessons learned on to others as your legacy.

When I first met Ruben his first question to me was, "you like John Cena right?" I had no clue who that was, but would quickly be educated!
I always looked forward to his birthday voicemails, where he'd call and sing me happy birthday. Loved his vibrancy for life and his wonderful spirit!
