Margie Davis
July 17, 2010
I wrote a message and only my name got posted. I have so many wonderful memories of our times on the river. I have this image of all of them floating around up there with boats tied together. I grieve with you Gordie and
Gary. I truly loved your mother - Midge

One of the dearest members I have ever had the privlege of being pastor. She loved me and my wife Linda. She was a joy to serve. She was one of the bravest people I have ever been blessed to know. Our loss is heaven's gain. She was as close to a saint as anyone I have ever met.

Ruby and Gordon Betts were our first roomates when we got married in 1978. We moved into the little two room house (expanded to three rooms subsequently) by the old tennis courts at Kamp Kaydet (rent was $40/mth, including utilities and a garage space). We managed to survive getting flooded out that first year, Col. Betts other best friend - the one-man dog "Prince", watched Betts try to ferret out the woodchucks to no end, and lived and learned from both of them for five years - our first of three children was born while we lived there. We shared firewood and stories and created lots of entertainment for them with our friends and foibles. Ruby was forever cheerful, supportive and upbeat, the glue holding the old place together even then, and their love and committment to each other was an inspiration and example for us. We have only the fondest memories of those halcion days when our young lives meshed with their waning years together. Both of them sage with wisdom from so many years together - they remain our endearing model of how to hopefully grow stronger and older together even now after 32 yrs of marriage. Never cross the bridge at Frankfort over the KY river without thinking of them and wishing we could go back again to those wonderful times we shared with them. A little lady in stature for sure, but mighty big of heart for others.

I have known and loved this dear little lady for 62 years - the world will be a little less bright without her. But now she has joined the other "river rats" in that great big Kamp Kaydet in the sky.
