Ruby Crawford Obituary
Ruby married Albert Eugene Crawford (died on October 17, 1997) on August 26, 1956.
Mrs. Crawford began her teaching career at Fredonia High School for three years and went on to teach at Laurel High School for two years. She retired from Mercer High School after teaching for 31 years. Ruby was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Slippery Rock.
Surviving is her sister, Mildred Clarice Himes in Brookville, PA; her granddaughter, Marcie Shirley in Butler, PA and four great-grandchildren.
Her parents, her husband, two daughters, Sharain Ebel and Marcia Palanti; four sisters: Mary Alice Buxton, Marjorie Ann Shrouder, Agnes Suzanne Mars, and Naomi Sue Knisely; and one brother, Howard Benjamin Knisely preceded her in death.
Visitation will be at Cunningham Funeral Home, Inc., 144 S. Pitt Street, Mercer, PA 16137 on Friday, March 17, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral service will be at the funeral home on Friday, March 17, 2023 at 1 p.m. with Bishop Russ Karl officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Washington Cemetery, Jefferson Twp., PA.

Your husband would go up to the altar every week and pray for your soul. He worried about you and loved you so much.
You were a dear soul. A champion to the underdogs.
And you were a wonderful math teacher. Because you had a hard time learning mathematics, it made you a better teacher. Additionally, you cared about each and every student.
I truly hope you are with the Lord Jesus, in Jesus' Name we pray.

Ruby was a dear friend to me as a new teacher. I will always remember her kindness to me. I especially remember her poems written specifically for the faculty get togethers...each time written with love for her colleagues. She and Gene(Curly) were blessings to Mercer High School students and staff. My deepest sympathy to her family.
