Eaton, Ruby H.

Ruby H. Eaton, a long time resident of Cortland, NY, passed away on Friday, June 12, 2015 in the Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Johnson City, NY at the age of 99. Ruby was born December 15, 1915 in Cazenovia, NY, a daughter of the late Louie and Gwendolyn Hughes Harvey. In addition to her husband, Grover P. Eaton, in 1996, she was predeceased by two brothers, Laverne and Wesley Harvey and sister, Flora Church. Ruby is survived by her son, Ronald H. (Gail) Eaton of Vestal, NY; two grandsons, Jeffrey (Elisa) Eaton of Endicott, NY and Bradley (Amy) Eaton of Apalachin, NY; five great grandchildren, Tyler, Karleigh, Zachary, Samantha and Jonathan and several nieces and nephews. Ruby grew up in Morrisville, NY, and graduated from Morrisville - Eaton High School and Morrisville College. She was a life-member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #222 of Homer, where she held many offices through out the years. She was very active as a Cub Scout leader, playing in her bridge clubs, and belonged to numerous other organizations. Most of all she enjoyed being a homemaker and caring for her family. In later life, she always looked forward to family events with all her grandchildren and great grandchildren who she enjoyed and loved very much. Following retirement, Ruby and her late husband, Grover, enjoyed many winters in Florida enjoying the warm weather. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Donald L Barber Funeral Home, 5016 North Main St., Homer, NY. Interment in Glenwood Cemetery, Homer will follow. Ruby's family will receive friends and relatives at the funeral home on Saturday from noon until the time of the service.
