Ruby Mae Turner Epperson

EPPERSON WINSTON-SALEM, NC - Ruby Mae Turner Epperson July 31, 2011 - April 12, 1920 Mrs. Ruby Mae Turner Epperson was born April 12, 1920 in Winston-Salem, NC to the late Walter and Sallie Turner. She was a lifelong resident of the city where she attended the Winston Salem Forsyth County public schools where she was a 1935 graduate of Atkins High School. Mrs. Epperson continued her education at Winston Salem State University (formerly Winston Salem Teachers College), receiving her Bachelor's degree in 1939 and later she received her Master's degree from New York University. Spiritually, she was a faithful 50 year Golden Star member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Madison Epperson; five brothers; six sisters. Mrs. Epperson departed this life Sunday, July 31, 2011 at the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice Home. Surviving are a devoted daughter, Doris Epperson (Thomas) Griffin; a granddaughter, Logan Griffin all of Washington, DC; a host of nieces; one nephew; other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 12:00 Noon Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. - 12:00 Noon Saturday at the church.
