GREENSBORO - Mrs. Ruby Byers Gant, of Greensboro, was called home peacefully on Thursday, November 2, 2006, to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, November 5 , at Memorial Presbyterian Church with Reverend Lauren Vanacore officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
Mrs. Gant was born February 11, 1924, to the late William Dalton and Martha Ann Hicks Byers. She was a former member of Hopeview Presbyterian Church and a current member of Memorial Presbyterian Church. Ruby was employed by Cone Mills White Oak for 43 years and also worked at O'Henry BBQ for several years.
Mrs. Gant is preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Archie Martin Gant; a daughter, Joyce Gant Underwood; four sisters, Margaret Peele, Mary Poe, Joyce Byers, Harriet Byers; four brothers, Paul Byers, Caesar Byers, Easley Byers and Dalton Byers Jr.
She is survived by two daughters, Becky Burchette and husband, Butch of Brown Summit, Elizabeth Martin Gant of Greensboro; a son-in-law, Jerry Underwood of Beaufort; two grandchildren, Tracey Simmons and husband, Mike, Don Underwood and wife, Tonja; four great grandchildren, Hunter Simmons, Tristan Simmons, Jacob Underwood and Brynn Underwood; two sisters, Evelyn Kivett, Nell Robinson and two sister-in-laws, Rebecca Byers and Ruby Byers Jones.
The family will receive friends and family from 7 until 9 Saturday evening at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Service and all other times at Mrs. Gants home.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Uncle Clarence and Aunt Marion Gant, Fred and Frankie Leonard and to Dr. Lennis Liversay and the Hospice Care Staff for their outstanding care, support, professionalism and friendship.

Martin, Becky and Family, I was out of town and just learned of Ruby's passing. I am so deeply saddened to hear it and my deepest condolences to you all. She was a wonderful person and loved by many. She is again with Archie and Joyce and they are watching over all of you. Love to all the family and God Bless.

Dear Becky & Martin, We realize that you are sad to see your Mom pass like this, but also relieved that she is no longer in pain and is snuggled in the arms of the Lord. She and your Dad are waving to us from above. We loved both of them and they will be sorely missed.
