Ruby Jewel "Baker" Miller

Ruby "Baker" Jewel Miller peacefully passed away Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at the age of 78, after a year-long battle with lung cancer. She was born in Springfield, Mo., on March 7, 1929, an identical twin daughter of Sampson and Laura (Davis) Baker. A 1947 graduate of Springfield Central High School, she was well known by friends and family as one of the "Baker Twins". In 1951, Ruby married Donald Lee Miller. They had two children during their 34 years of marriage. Ruby was a devoted wife and homemaker and a wonderful mother and childcare provider to their children and many others. Her church life at Temple Baptist, Springfield, was very important to her where she had many good friends. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; her brother Denver Baker; and twin sister Ruth Pearl Zidlicky. She is survived by her children, Janell Scudder and her husband, Donnie, and Tony Miller and his wife, Bea; grandchildren Travis Scudder, Ryan Scudder and his wife, Vanessa, Denver Miller, Laura Miller and Amy Miller; and many other family members. The family wishes to thank all her special caregivers and friends at The Gardens Assisted Living. Visitation will be in Greenlawn Funeral Home South from 9 to 10 a.m. on Friday, April 13, followed by the funeral at 10 a.m. Burial will follow the service in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens, Springfield.
