Wake Forest
Ruby Lowery Powell, 90, of Wake Forest, died Tuesday, May 26, 2015. Mrs. Powell was born in Wake County, the daughter of the late Nannie and Eulon Lowery and was a member of Woodland Baptist Church. She was married to A. Royce Powell who preceded her in death after 56 years of marriage.
At Mrs. Powell's request, a small private service will be held at the gravesite. There will be no additional services or visitations.
Mrs. Powell is survived by her sons, D. Royce Powell and wife, Leej Copperfield of Raleigh and Bayard Powell and wife, Mary Caponera of Winston-Salem; grandsons, Zach Powell of Winston-Salem and Matthew Powell of Raleigh; sisters-in-law, Agnes Lowery, Louise Choplin and husband, Lewis, Rachel Holden, Dorothy Taliadoros and Carolyn Gordon; brother-in-law, David Powell and wife, Polly. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Alfred Lowery and Royster Lowery and by her special niece, Cynthia Lowery Daniel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Comprehensive Cancer Center of Wake Forest University, Hematology and Oncology, Medical Center Boulevard, Winston-Salem, NC 27157-1082.
