Ruby Richardson

Ruby (Dykes) Richardson, 80, the daughter of Clara Beatrice (Calhoun) and Leroy Dykes, was born June 14, 1930 in Jasper County and passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at a local hospital. Mrs. Richardson attended Rockland and Colmesniel schools and married her first husband, Claude Hamilton, who preceded her in death. She married her second husband, Joseph Richardson, in 1972. She was a secretary for Zavalla Propane Company for twenty years. She was a member of Lala Hill Baptist Church in Huntington. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Claude Elroy and Linda Hamilton of Diboll, TX; sister and brother-in-law, Sallie and Jerry Gilcrease of Saron Community, TX; grandson, Robert Alan Tetu of Austin, TX; 3 honored nephews, Bobby and Cynthia Treadway of Zavalla, Garry and Stephanie Treadway of Saron Community and David and Marie Cochran of Lufkin; numerous nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Helen Cochran. Serving as pallbearers will be Jerry Gilcrease, Bobby Treadway, Garry Treadway, David Cochran, James Tarver and Richard Dykes. Honorary pallbearers will be Gene Hadley, Bobby Epperly and the men of Lala Hill Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Claude Hamilton; husband, Joseph Richardson; 2 brothers, Robert Lee Dykes and William Pierce Dykes; and great-grandson, Corbin Dallas Tetu. Services for Mrs. Richardson will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 16, 2010 in the Lala Hill Baptist Church in Huntington with Bro. Calvin Kersh officiating. Interment will follow in the Tom Havard Cemetery in Zavalla. Oakley-Metcalf Funeral Home, directors.
