MADISON — Ruby Frances Griffin Sharpe, 87, died Tuesday, January 26, 2010.
A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, January 28, 2010, at Colonial Funeral Home Chapel.
Mrs. Sharpe was born February 12, 1922, in Rockingham County, to the late Thomas Dalton Griffin and Rosa Clair Holland Griffin. She was a retired employee of the Rockingham County Department of Social Services and was a member of Lake View Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William B. Sharpe; sons, Robert "Bob", Wayne and Garland Sharpe; brothers, Leonard and William Griffin and great-great- granddaughter, Savannah Allen.
Survivors include her daughters, Janice S. Smith (Harold), and Ann S. Griffin, all of Madison; son, Bryant Sharpe (Karen) of Westminster, SC; daughter-in-law, Rebecca Sharpe; brothers, Grady Griffin (Doris) of Reidsville, Dewey Griffin (Geraldine) of Madison, Dee Griffin (Linda) of Reidsville and Ted Griffin (Frances) of Winston Salem and sisters, Eileen Barber of Madison and Ennis Durham of Summerfield; grandchildren, Robert "Robbie" Sharpe, Jr., Kennythia Allen, Tracy Sharpe, Stacy Jackson, Shannon Bullins, Brandi Allen, Sherri Smith, Christopher Sharpe, Lincoln Griffin, Catherine Hundley, Zachary Sharpe and David Sharpe; 12 great-grandchildren and best friend, Janie Brown.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home and all other times at the homes of Ann Griffin and Janice Smith.
Colonial Funeral Home in Madison is serving the family.
