Ruby Smith Obituary
Ruby Margaret “Lucy” Widner Smith, 70, of Essie passed away Monday, February, 20, 2023, at her residence. Born on January 9, 1953 in Harlan County, she worked as a Nurse’s Assistant.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos Smith; her father, Robert F. Widner; and one daughter, Carla Banegas.
Lucy is survived by her mother, Billie Ruth Parsley Patrick, Beaver Dam, KY; two children, Bobby Smith and wife, Buffy, Harlan, and Jay Smith, Leslie County; two brothers, Dewey Widner and Rodney Widner, both of Leslie County; and three sisters, Susan Johnson, Mary Middleton and Rhonda Fox.
Also surviving are five grandchildren, Joe Banegas and fiancé, Ayana, Brittany Banegas, Jeremy Smith, Ambrianna Smith and Jordon Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Landon Smith, Eli Smith and Connor Smith.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, February 24, 2023, in the chapel of the Harlan Funeral Home with funeral services starting at 1 p.m. with her family doing the officiating.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery with family and friends serving as pallbearers.
Harlan Funeral Home is honored to serve the Smith family.
