Ruby Taylor

Ruby Taylor, 97, of Baxter Springs, Kan., formerly of El Dorado, Ark., passed away Dec. 5, 2009, in Columbus, Kan. She was born Sept. 15, 1912, in Tennyson, Texas, to the late James Crawford Martindale and Georgianne Lewis Martindale. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, aunt and friend. Ruby was a homemaker and very active in church, civic and school organizations. She enjoyed music, reading, gardening and playing bridge. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Homer Otis Taylor; two sisters, Laura Scoggin and Rachel Whiddon; four brothers, Wayman, Kenneth, Ted and Bob Martindale; and a niece, Bernice Coulter. Survivors include a son, Dr. Steve Taylor and wife, Lynn, of Covingston, La.; daughter, Judy Cassell and husband, Richard, of Baxter Springs; two grandsons, Chuck Cheatwood, of Baton Rouge, La., and Shane Sims and wife, Kara, of Dallas, Texas; great-grandson, Aidan Sims, of Dallas; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors, with Rev. Phil Pinckard officiating.
