Ruby Kirby Townsend 68, of LaGrange, passed away on Monday, September 2, 2013.
She was a member of Sligo Baptist Church and the Order of The Eastern Star; Rob Morris Chapter No.114. Ruby was a cashier at Wal-Mart for 23 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Elmer and Dorothy Kirby; sister: Dorothy Walls and nephew: David Allen Walls.
Survivors include her husband of almost 50 years: James "J.W." Townsend; children: Rhonda Martin (Michael), Jay Townsend (Sheila) and Joel Townsend (Lily); grandchildren: Jason, Justin, James, Megan and Anthony; great grandchildren: Ariel and Rachel; sisters Betty Brewington, Loretta Ison and Sharon Ashcraft.
A funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 5, 2013 at Heady-Radcliffe Funeral Home with burial to follow in Sligo Cemetery. Visitation 4-8 PM on Wednesday.
Memorials gift to: Sligo Baptist Church Building Fund, Hosparus or Eastern Star Home.

I'm so sorry to hear about the passing of Ruby.I knew her from going to Buckner Baptist Church and from Wal-Mart.She was always kind,& friendly to myself & family.Help my mom take care of little Jay children.I know & feel your loss.My dad passed away last 02/13/2012.Our thoughts & prayers are with you & the family now and the day's ahead.May God continue to comfort you now and forever.
