She was born on November 16, 1921, in Lometa, Texas to Ross Orestus and Mary Viola Lindsey Greer. Ruby grew up in Rockdale, Texas. She and her husband, Wayne, Sr., bought a farm in Adamsville, Texas, where they raised their family. In addition to being a homemaker and working on the family farm raising chickens and selling eggs, Ruby also cooked at the Adamsville school and drove the school bus. Later, the family moved to Lampasas, where she successfully owned and operated Wolfe's Sewing Machines and Antiques located on North Highway 281, selling and servicing sewing machines for many years. She also purchased and managed rental properties.
Ruby was an accomplished seamstress and an expert quilter, receiving numerous awards for her beautiful quilts including Grand Overall at the Texas Sesquicentennial State Fair. She especially enjoyed gifting loved ones with her homemade quilts. She was also a gifted musician, serving as a church pianist, and playing the guitar and accordion by ear. She enjoyed traveling, taking each of her grandchildren on an extended trip. Ruby had a love of the outdoors; going swimming, fishing, and deer hunting. Ruby will be fondly remembered for her likable personality, wisdom, and humor as well.
Ruby married Wayne O. Wolfe in 1937 in Lampasas, Texas. They were happily married for 62 years. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family; each child and grandchild was made to feel that they were special and loved. Ruby was loved by all and was known as Grannie by many among her church family as well. Ruby was a lifelong member of the Berean Christadelphian Church where she faithfully served her Lord by serving others with her organizing and cooking skills at the Lampasas ecclesia and annual Hye church camp meetings.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents, R.O. and Viola Greer; husband, Wayne, Sr. Wolfe; brother, R.O. Greer, Jr.; sisters, Estelle Greer, Faydell Greer, Jewell Bell, Marie Cassidy, Linnie Hennig; grandchildren, Diane Summerville Carl and Justin Roberts.
