Rudolph J. Lacilla, 94, of Watertown, formerly of Waterbury, beloved husband Anita (Iadarola) Lacilla died peacefully on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at home surrounded by his family. Rudy was born in Waterbury, CT on August 22, 1926 son of the late Pasquale and Anna (Ficeto) Lacilla. He grew up in the Brooklyn section of Waterbury and later moved to the Town Plot section where he lived for many years. Rudy was a graduate of Wilby High School with the Class of 1944. In high school he was captain of the basketball and baseball teams and also played football. After high school he joined the U.S. Navy and served our country during WWII. Upon returning from the war Rudy met and married the love of his life, Anita Iadarola on Memorial Day, May 30, 1951. They soon after began their family and Rudy went to work for the footwear division of Uniroyal where he worked for over 33 years. Rudy loved his family and cherished every moment he had to spend with them. He was a lifelong NY Yankees fan and avid UCONN Women's Basketball fan. Along with his wife of 70 years, Anita, he leaves his children, Richard (Mary) Lacilla of Thomaston, Patricia (Bruce) Liroff of South Orange, NJ, Kenneth (Allison) Lacilla of North Haven, and daughter-in-law Cyndi (Robert) Lacilla ; grandchildren, Christopher Lacilla, Morgan Lacilla McDermott, Kristin Lacilla Fagone, Lauren Liroff, Matthew Liroff, and Sofia Lacilla. He also leaves his great-grandchildren, Maddie and Maya McDermott, Samantha Lacilla, and Quinn Fagone. He was predeceased by his sons, Michael and Robert, his granddaughter Kelly Lacilla, and his siblings, Grace McDonnell, Frank Lacilla, Anthony Lacilla, Thomas Lacilla, and Joseph Lacilla. The family would like to thank his homecare aids, Valarie, Nellie, Marta, Debbie, and Jackie for the loving care they provided to him during his time of need. Funeral services and burial are private at the request of his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project www.support.woundedwarriorproject.org

My loving heartfelt condolences go out to Mrs. Lacilla my friend Patty, Dr. Bruce and kids and his entire family at this difficult time. I never met Mr. Rudy but know what a great human being he was by his family and am thankful for his service to our nation!3 God bless you all from Arkansas! Richard
