Rudolph M. "Rudy" Schuster Ph.D.

I never will forget Rudy!!! He always helped me with the many hepatics that I sent him for identification. He was a very kind person and one that I will never forget.

We got to know Rudy many years ago, and over those years he became a mentor and good friend, who always welcomed us into his home, where we enjoyed stimulating conversations. Rudy's extensive memory recall, especially involving his passion for hepatics, was truly amazing. We will dearly miss these special times with Rudy, and his very presence. The world has lost a truly great scholar and intelligence, but we know his incredible body of work will live on and continue to inspire and help new students in botany and the field of hepatics. Rest in peace old friend, you did a darn good job – you see our point?

I am sorry to hear of Rudy's passing. My father shared his passion for non-vascular plants as well as classical music and often spoke of him fondly.
