Rudy T. Tovar

TOVAR, Rudy T. Rudy T Tovar passed away on Sunday, June 25, at his home in Dallas. He was born in Houston, Texas, on Feb 22, 1925, to Rafael and Socorro Tovar. He is survived by Esther Tovar, his spouse of 72 years, as well as by his 5 children: Estelle Lara, Dr. Rudy Tovar, Roland Tovar, Esther Fraler and Cindy Martinez. He is also survived by many siblings: Ralph Tovar, Chelo Rodriguez, Sr. Mickey Espinoza, Steve Tovar, Rosie Muzaurieta, Becky Espinoza, Margie Luna and Carmen Guerra. He is predeceased by his sister, Terry Vasquez, brother Julian Tovar and both his parents. Rudy attended St. Ann's Catholic School and Crozier Technical High School. He was an avid member of the International Order of the Alhambra as well as the Knights of Columbus Council, Council #799. As a World War ll veteran, he served in the Pacific as a medic tending to the wounded. Visitation for Rudy will take place at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W Northwest Highway in Dallas, from 6pm-8pm, Wednesday, June 28. The Rosary will begin at 7:45pm. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at Christ the King Catholic Church on Preston Rd at 10am, Thursday, June 29. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, his long time parish, where he served as head usher for many, many years.
