Russell Cobb Obituary
GREENSBORO — Dr. Russell A. Cobb Jr., 66, died on Thursday, November 5, 2009, at Moses Cone Memorial Hospital.
Mass of Christian bur- ial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 9, at Our Lade of Grace Catholic Church. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Dr. Cobb was born in Durham, North Carolina, on September 18, 1943, to the late Russell A. Cobb Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Cobb.
Dr. Cobb attended Elon College and the University of Missouri. He graduated in 1967 from Logan Chiropractic College in St. Louis. He held an advanced degree in orthopedics from National College of Chiropractic and held a diplomate in neurology from New York Chiropractic College (300 hours). He had advanced studies from San Diego Spinal Research Institution in the treatment of spinal trauma. He was also a member of the American Chiropractic Association. He was awarded the N.C. Chiropractor of the Year from the N.C. Chiropractic Association. He held chiropractic licenses in Missouri, Washington State and North Carolina. Dr. Cobb was also a member of the Four Seasons Civitan Club. He was a generous contributor to the NCCA.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandchild, William Russell Cobb.
Dr. Cobb is survived by his wife, Maria Alomia Cobb, of the home; three children, Antonio Alomia Cobb of Summerfield, Russell Allen Cobb of Greensboro, and Shane Aubrey Cobb of Summerfield; three sisters, Connie Oakley of Mebane, Carolyn Dunlap of Greensboro, and Zona Ridout of Greensboro; one brother, Charles A. Cobb of Raleigh.
Visitation will be held from 7 until 8:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 8, at Forbis & Dick North Elm Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to N.C. Chiropractic Association at 3200 Blue Ridge Road, Suite 216, Raleigh, NC 27612.

Maria and Family,
Thanks to you and Dr. Cobb's healing hands, I was able to return to my flying career after the head-on collision...without surgery. You both were compassionate and professional.

To Maria, Rusty, Tony, Shane, Hallie & the rest of my extended family at Cobb, I was very shocked when I found out about this today. I talked with Liz, she informed me that she thought Sandy had tried to reach me so I could be there but somehow I was not. I am so sorry I couldn't be there for each of you during this time. You guys & Russell were always there for me when I started working there and was going thru my own personal hard time. I don't know if you guys ever knew how important that was to me. You always made me feel like I was part of the personal family even given me that special last name of "Cobbins" I loved it & I miss you guys deeply. I wanted to let others that may read this know how great Dr. Cobb was, he truly wanted to make sure everyone was taken care of. He always said the day wasn't over until the very end and that the cream always rises to the top. Truly he was one that rose over the top! The positive attitude that was passed on from him & his wonderful smile will always stand out in my mind. I called the clinic today, Liz has my number please call me if there is anything I can do. Know you have my prayers & this extra "family" member here is thinking of you. I know just like everything else this family has been thru somehow, someway God will figure out a way to work it all out. Continue to trust in that He will never leave or forsake us & you all know that. I love all of you. And for some of you checking in whose names & faces I remember I know the Cobb family really appreciate all the comments & your prayers. What a tragic loss this is for the community of the chiropractic community. Dr Cobb was absolutely my favorite. He has helped myself and many others to overcome our problems. So sad to know that a man with such special skills had to live his life with his own battles that he could not overcome. Rest in peace Russell Cobb. You will be deeply missed by many. Thank you for all the good wishes everyone. My dad was the best man i ever knew, and hearing these memories of him warms all of our hearts.He spent his entire life helping others, and i know he loved every patient he ever saw. Being a chiropractor was not his job, it was truly who he was.
