Wow. Russell was an jewelry artist legend on the streets of Philadelphia PA He was one of the first wave of Philadelphia Black Pioneer Artist to produce masterpiece during the 1960's and beyond. My generation of artist looked up to him and wanted to create jewelry like him. A Black Man in America making a living doing his art He provided us mentoring and advice. He always pushed his creativity to other realms. Rest in Masterpiece Russ. Thank you.

Always think of Russell, Shirley and family around this time, as I would always go to any crafts fairs at which they were selling: Nassau Coliseum, MLK High School, Columbia University, Columbus Avenue, and Head House during the summer months in Philadelphia, to name a few. I still have all the wonderful pieces that he created; although I don't wear them that often anymore. Many years have gone by; but I remember those times fondly. A talented man in multiple medias.

I am so sorry to hear about Russell's passing. I knew him for years from the multiple craft shows at which he sold his incredible pieces. In fact, when he used to be alone, I used to sit with him in his booth and helped him sell his jewelry. We remained friends for many years after that until we lost touch after he moved to Florida. I treasure all his beautiful pieces. He was a special person, may he rest in piece. My condolences to his family.
