Russell E. Morse

Russell E. Morse, 85, of Preble, NY, passed away Tuesday, November 20, 2012.

Born October 28, 1927, in Cuyler, NY, he was the son of the late William and Julia Morse. Russell served in the United States Army-Air Force from February of 1946 until January of 1949, where he was a parachute rigger.

He spent time working at Durkee's Bakery and Camp's Slaughter House before becoming a machinist at Brewer Tichtner's (Cooper Tools), where he retired in 1990 after over 25 years of loyal service.

Russell enjoyed camping, fishing and spending time with family and friends. He also enjoyed being a member of Cuyler Cemetery Association.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank the VA Hospital and Clinic, and Loretto (Fahey Rehabilitation Center), with a special thanks to Dr. Garber (of the Dryden VA Clinic), all the nurses on the fifth and sixth floors (at the VA Hospital), and the physical and occupational therapists (from Loretto).

Russell was predeceased by two of his children, Wesley W. Morse (1986) and Deborah J. Morse (1997).

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Beverly J. Morse of Preble; his son, David R. Morse of Preble; his two grandchildren, Zachary R. Morse of Preble and Heather L. Morse of Tully; and his one great-granddaughter, Natalie L. Prorok of Tully.

Calling hour will be held at Hartwell Funeral Home, located at 461 Route 281 in Tully, on Monday, November 26, 2012, from 6 to 7 p.m. There will be a gathering at the Preble Fire Station for family and friends immediately after, from 7 to 9 p.m.
