Ruth Levetta Sutton Baker departed this life on Monday, June 3, 2013 at her residence. Beloved wife of the late Justin Baker. Mother of Barbara J. Baker and Deborah A. Baker. Grandmother of Dr. Crystal J. Baker and Christopher Justin Coleman. Daughter of the late William Sutton, Sr. and Izetta Rouselle Sutton. Sister of Mary S. Butler and the late William Sutton, Jr., Norward Sutton, Sr., Ora Lee Sutton Johnson, and Augusta Sutton, Sr. Sister-in-law of Ruth S. Newell, Thelma Sutton, Jeanetta Sutton, Junius Johnson, Jr., Ashton Baker, the late Dorothy Tureaud, Helen Baker, William Aaron Baker, Jr., Joseph Butler, Jr., Juanita Baker and Theresa Baker. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers and members of Fifth African Baptist Church and Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Baptist Church and all neighboring churches, employees of Alice Harte Charter School, ACSA, and New Orleans Public Schools, members of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and NSPDK, staff and students of UNO, SUNO, Xavier University and Delgado Community College are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Fifth African Baptist Church, 3419 South Robertson Street, New Orleans, LA on Thursday, June 6, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Dale J. Sanders, officiating. Visitation from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Mt. Olivet Cemetery and Mausoleum. I was so sorry to learn of the death of your mother. Sis. Baker was a person who always had a smile on her face and a kind word to say.

I'm sorry I missed the services as I learned of her death on the day of the funeral.

She will be truly missed.
