Ruth Mitchell Bergerson, age 95, passed away on Sunday, October 11, 2020, in Texarkana, Texas. Ruth was born in Tom, OK, December 31, 1924, to Minnie and Willie Mitchell. She lived her early life on the family ranch with her parents, brother and sister and graduated from Tom High School.
She moved to Texarkana and worked first for the rural telephone company and then for years at Montgomery Ward. With her winning personality, she excelled in her department and won many awards for her salesmanship. In later years she worked for her sister Mary at Phiffer’s Ladies Apparel.
She was a member of the Tom Baptist Church and an officer in The Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her parents Minnie and Willie Mitchell, her husband Robert Bergerson, her sister Mary Phiffer, her brother Ralph Mitchell, and nephew Russell Mitchell.
She is survived by four nieces that adored her, Carla Mitchell, Melinda Frey, Michell Summerlin, Christal Phiffer Prince, and one special friend Bo Slider.
Ruth was a woman of culture and adventure, who loved antiques, floral arranging, beautiful table settings, her rose garden and travel. She loved parties especially when her nieces were involved. She will be remembered for her love and support, being that special Aunt that everyone wishes they had and the special spark that she brought to each and every family party.
Graveside services will be 1 PM Thursday, October 15,2020 at Tom Cemetery, Tom, Oklahoma. Burial will be under the direction of Chapelwood Funeral Home with Ken Guthrie officiating.
