Ruth Bumgarner

Ruth Bumgarner, age 80, of Bostic, went home to be with the Lord, Thursday, April 18, 2019 at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills. Ruth was born April 30, 1938 in Cleveland County to the late Brantley Brackett and Nancy Pauline McNeilly Brackett. She worked for Broyhill Furniture for over twenty-seven years before retirement and was a member of Grace Missionary Methodist Church. Ruth enjoyed flower gardening, working on puzzles and picture books. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of forty-five years, J.H. Bumgarner, Jr.; three brothers, Harrill, Jerry and Donald Brackett and a great-granddaughter, Bella Causby. Those left to cherish her memory include two daughters, Carol Smith (Michael) of Collettsville, NC and Elaine Holland (Bill) of Golden Valley; son, Danny Bumgarner (Julie) of Sunshine; seven sisters, Louise Montgomery of Casar, Marie Hoyle of Casar, Diane Newton (James) of Shelby, Linda Shope (Lloyd) of Shelby, Jeannette Allen-McCurry (Loyd) of Casar, Marilyn Gantt (Ricky) of Shelby and Carolyn Shuford (Alan) of Longview, NC; two brothers, Ray Brackett and Steve Brackett (Trudy) all of Casar. She is also survived by ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous special nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at the Golden Valley Missionary Methodist Church with Reverend Lamar Hewitt, Reverend Eugene Bumgarner and Reverend Rodger Hall officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Monday at the church.
