Lloyd Lee Sorensen, 87, passed away on July 13, 2013 at his home in Malad, Idaho surrounded by loved ones.
He was born on Feb 23, 1926 in Howell, Utah to Elmer and Blodwin Sorensen.
He married Celia Ruth Smedley on May 28, 1948 in the Logan LDS Temple. Lloyd and Celia have been married for 65 years. They have 7 children, 27 grandchildren and 50 great grand children.
He is a veteran of World War 11
He graduated with a Bachelor's Degree, a Master's Degree and a Specialist in Administration Degree from Utah State University.
He was employed by Oneida County Schools as a Vocational Agricultural Teacher for 16 years. His love of teaching manifested itself in the relationships that carried beyond the classroom. He was Superintendent of Schools for 10 years. He worked for Nuccor Steel for 10 years
He was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He has served faithfully in many capacities throughout his life. He and his wife, Celia, had the opportunity to serve 2 missions. He was valiant in his testimony of the Lord Jesus Christ.
In his retirement years he enjoyed making toys for children who were less fortunate.
He had a love of animals, especially horses. His hobbies were hunting and fishing.
His greatest joy in life was his family. They were his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife Celia, his children: Nancy (Lee) Snedaker, South Jordan, Utah - Wendy (Rich) Sweeny, West Valley, Utah - Linda Sherwood, Maryland - Nadene (Dirk) Leavitt, Blackfoot, Idaho - Irene (Jeff) Bird, Arbon, Idaho - Craig (Lisa) Sorensen, Malad, Idaho. Sister: LaPriel (Mearl) Bair, Providence, Utah - Brother: Ray (Carol) Sorensen, Howell, Utah.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Elmer and Blodwin Sorensen - Brothers: Ariel and Grant Sorensen - Daughter: Sharon Ann.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2013 at 12:00 noon in the Malad 6th Ward Building, 200 N. 400 W. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday July 17 from 6:00- 8:00 pm at the Horsley Funeral Home, 132 W. 300 N. and again from 10:30-11:45 am prior to the services. Burial will follow in the Malad City Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family by visiting www.horsleyfuneralhome.com
