My Grandmother was a woman of strength -- strength of intellect, strength of compassion, strength of faith, and strength of heart. She was always one to care of others and left a mark on so many even in her final years when her body failed her. She was so proud of her Daughter and passed along that strength to her who became an amazing woman and Mother. I take comfort in knowing that she is in peace now and the life of the party with family and friends lost. I love you Memaw, I miss you, and will remain strong because of you.

Diane, I am so sorry about your Mom. But one thing that will help you through this, is that you know you will see her again, one day. This is a short separation for you and her. I did not get to meet Ruth, but sure heard a lot about her from Uncle Wallace, Aunt Mildred, Uncle Palmer, and Aunt Marie. They truly loved your mother, so very much. Ruth had to be a very special, loving, person. I'm just sorry I never had the chance to meet her. God Bless you, Diane. I'm praying for you, daily, and you are always in my thoughts. It is hard to lose a Mother, but the pain will get somewhat better.

Oh my dear Aunt Ruth. You were a special Aunt for me. You were funny and enjoyed life. I remember when when you lived in Clearwater, Florida [even when you lived in New Jersey (but vaguely)] The alligators growled across the road from your home. We kids slept on the floor, and I remember being afraid they would come and get our legs. Your spirit was such a joy. Be free. May you have peace in the Lord. Love Carrie

I worked with Ruth at Medicaid in Montgomery, AL, in the late 1970s. She was like a breath of fresh spring air on a "hot summer's day." She was always laughing and spreading joy. She will be greatly missed. Sue O'Neill (Lineville, AL)
