Ruth was such a bright and respected light in this world. I only knew her for a short time as her neighbor, but to me she was so very beautiful, strong, and bold. I admired her very much. Sending so much love and respect.

I worked very closely with Ruth on Alameda League activities when I lived there. We often met on her house boat to hash out logistics for whatever plan we had cooked up. I learned a lot about myself and activism from Ruth. She was comitted, hardworking and dependable. Traits to mimic.
We also shared a love for reading and writing and had many conversations about what we were reading or wanted to read in addition to making sure that the Alameda League remained relevant and visible in our city.
I am grateful for the connection we made working together in the Alameda League. She was a woman of honor and respect. How great for the Alameda League that she is a part of its legacy.

So sorry to hear about Ruth`s passing. I really only knew her through the league of women voters in Alameda where she had a strong impact with her leader ship. I never knew much of the above, but I was not surprised to read, how intelligent and active she was throughout her life.

I am so sad to hear of her passing, but happy for her that she did it as she wished. She was a remarkable woman and I enjoyed our time together having challenging conversations about all sorts of things. It was fun to practice our Spanish, too. She will be sorely missed. Love and condolences to the family.

During the brief time I came to know Ruth after she moved into St. Paul's Towers, I became very fond of her and was amazed at her abilities. She was always a very positive, upbeat, encouraging, and vibrant person. As the Chair of our End-of-Life-Planning Committee, she covered all of the bases and answered all of the questions anyone could possibly think or ask about this subject---whether they were voiced or not. Those of us on the committee were well aware of her personal wishes. We just did not expect this action to come so soon. My only regrets are not being able to get to know her better, and knowing I will no longer be able to see that smiling face and hearty laugh. She will be greatly missed in our community. ----Marilyn Kosinski

Losing Ruth Dixon is losing a friend and a great scholar. It is very sad, but a comfort to know that she left on her own terms.
