Many fond memories of Bob and Ruth. My father was the minister in the East Dorset Church they attended and I lived near them in Manchester, so Bob was my mailman and I house and animal sat for them a couple of times. We missed them when they moved to Bradford.

In the Fall of 1967, I lived in International House in New York City. The I-House had a program for international students to visit with families in Manchester, Vermont during the Christmas Holiday. I was fortunate to be the house guest of Bob and Ruth Fowler. They were very welcoming and we made friends right away.
Ruth was a very gracious host and made me very comfortable in my first experience in living with an American Family. She even allowed me to smoke in their house though no one in the family smoked!! Later, when I quit smoking, I realized how accommodating and tolerant she was.
After, I got married, my wife and I visited the Fowlers a number of times in Manchester. And, they also visited us, whenever they came to New York City.
We were very fortunate that the Fowlers were able to our daughter's wedding in New Jersey.
After Bob, passed away, we kept in touch with Ruth. She was such a gentle soul.
I am very sad to hear about her passing and will cherish the wonderful memories of my time with her family.

I met Ruth thru DAR, she was the State Treasurer at the time, what good times we had at meetings. Even after she moved to Bradford, we stayed in touch. For years, she and Bob volunteered at the VA Hospital in WRJ, even taking a taxi when neither felt fit to drive, now that's dedication!
