I had been thinking about Ruth and just found this site. In 1991, Ruth was instrumental in helping me process my mother's death and continue to compose a beautiful life for myself. Although we lost touch over the years, I'll always remember her as a wonderful, wise and loving woman to whom I am forever grateful. My prayers and condolences are with you all.

Dear Billy and Karen. I had spelled your last name wrong and listed Ruth Hirsh in my contact list on my cell phone. When I could not find the correct number, I left a note for Ruth Hirsh at her 86th address some time ago. The doorman said he would give it to her. Not sure she was in fact there.
My Aunt Ruth as you know became her friend. Ruth is now in an assisted care living facility in Denver and is 95 . She has not traveled to NYC to see Ruth recently and like myself and Devra (my daughter) had also lost touch.
Suddenly, in May, as the flowers became late bloomers I had a dream about Ruth who as you know went back to get her gerontology MA degree when she was an older (not that old really) student. The next day for whatever reason I suddenly felt I must check for her obituary on line. I did so hoping I would not find it but knowing I was to get in touch with you both if I did And so I am.
Ruth was a wonderful artist and understood the art of living as her life-stories of others demonstrated. She was a gifted, wise and wonderful presence in my classroom and in our world. Her memory is surely a blessing to us. I'll be in touch. Judy Gordon

Ruthie will always remain in my heart. Some of my happiest moments in NYC were spent with you at your home.

Our sincere condolences to Karen, Bill, Tam and Samantha. Ruth had a long and varied life, and influenced the lives of so many people. She understood the timeless and important things in life, and shared that with many of us. She will be missed.
