Ruth M. Kuhns

Ruth M. Kuhns, 80, of North Apollo, died Friday, April 14, 2006, in her home after a lengthy illness. She was born Feb. 5, 1926, in North Apollo to the late William W. and Ida B. Culp Sloan and lived there all of her life. Mrs. Kuhns was a telephone operator for the Kittanning Telephone Co. and a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Apollo, and the Apollo Order of the Eastern Star. She enoyed gardening, flowers, sewing, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren and was a devoted wife and mother. Also predeceased by brother Kenneth Sloan and sister Helen Noel. Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Carl L. Kuhns; son, Jeffrey C. Kuhns, of State College; daughters, Susan (Thomas) Pekich, of Pittsford, N.Y., and Carla (John) Rossi, of State College, and grandchildren, Abby and Joe Pekich and Gina and Nick Rossi. Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 10 until 11 a.m. services Tuesday in the GERALD J. MEDICE FUNERAL HOME, 1916 Moore Ave., North Apollo. The Rev. Judith Boggs, her pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Spring Church. The family requests memorials to the church or the Apollo Memorial Library.
