Ruth Jennings Nieman

Ruth Jennings Nieman, 90, of Darien, NY, died July 11, 2009, at her home, under the care of her family. She was born September 17, 1918 in Bridgeport, CT, daughter of the late Delos Harrington and Maude CurtisMrs. Nieman was retired from Bell's Grocery in Lockport and she also previously worked at S and H Green Stamps in St. Petersburg, FL. She was a former member of the United Church of Christ in Gasport, and the Gasport American Legion Auxiliary. Ruth was an avid bowler; she painted ceramics for many years, enjoyed bird watching, reading and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, George Lenczewski and a brother, William Harrington. Survivors include her husband, William C. Nieman of Gasport; son, Terry (Donna) Nieman of Gasport; three daughters, Billie Sue (William) Goll of Williamsville, Bonnie (Donald) Rogers of Darien and Darcy Lenczewski of Middleport; one sister, Harriet Porter of Georgia; along with seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family was blessed to have the loving care of Nurse Tina Talbut for the past 3 years.Friends may call from 4 to 7 PM on Friday, July 17th at Sherrie Bream Funeral Home, 4521 Main St., Gasport, NY 14067. A Memorial Service will take place at a time to be announced. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
