Ruth J. Randall

The Upper West Side lost one of its great lifelong residents on April 11th, 2023, when Ruth Randall (85) succumbed to cancer. Loving mother of UWS residents Julia and Edward, Ruth was married to the late writer-producer Bob Randall (1937-1995), before divorcing in the early 1970s. Hunter HS and NYU alum. Over her 6+ decade career, Ruth worked in print production, desktop publishing, book publishing, editing and advertising, among other trades. Avid NYT reader, news junkie, crossword puzzler, wordsmith. Whip smart, curious, kind, generous, funny and fun. Loved wine, whisky, restaurants, shows, concerts, movies, and travel, crossing the Atlantic often by air or ship. Enjoyed spending weekends upstate in Chatham NY with her life partner, the late Alyne Model (1936-2019). Loving party animal and spirited lover of spirits. To know Ruth was to love Ruth. She'll be sorely missed and never forgotten by all who loved her.
