I am so sorry to read of the passing of Ruth. She and I were in the same class at Albany State Teachers College (now SUNY Albany). We shared so many different events. We were cheerleaders of our freshman class there. Later on we performed together in plays for rivalry. Ruth and I were rushed by the two same sororities. She ended joining Psi Gamma and I went with Phi Gamma Kappa. The photo is of Ruth with me and Louise Petfield performing on Torch Night (traditional event the night before graduation). Ruth was active in all the class activities. We were performers in the class plays for rivalry--she was lots of fun with whom to perform. Finally she and I and 11 others from our class were chosen by our class to have membership in Myskania, an honor society at Albany. She sat next to me (we maintained a number that resulted from our being tapped for membership). I really, really liked Ruth--she was a very special person. May God bless Ruth Dunn Reed and may God bless those who love her and will miss her.

I am so sorry for your loss. I did her hair for many years and got to know Ruth pretty well. I loved listening to her stories. She was such an intelligent and strong woman. Was very real. I admired her so much. RIP Ruth

I loved performing on stage with Ruth. She was Rome's own version of Elaine Stritch. She always had a quick-witted remark in any occasion, and was a staunch defender of those in need. A true character, she will be missed by all those she leaves behind.

Don:
My sincere condolences on your great loss. I met Ruth when she became Directer of Rome Volunteer Center and I was at Rome Family Services on same floor. She was such a fun person with a hearty laugh and quick quips. She always had me in stitches. She had an innate ability to size up a person or a situation. She was not afraid to speak what she thought. She was the best!
Ruth, rest in Eternal Peace. Your journey is over.
Sincerely,
Jim Dooher
