Ruth H. Ruby

Ruby Ruth Hannah Hollenbaugh Ruby, 90, of Chuckey, Tenn., formerly of Dayton, went to be with her Lord Thursday, Jan. 16, 2014, at her home in Chuckey, Tenn. She was born March 6, 1923, in Dayton, daughter of Ralph E. and Elsie A. (Rupp) Hollenbaugh. Ruth lived in the Dayton area for 75 years and considered it her home. She was a devoted member of Dayton First Church of God and was involved with the Missionary Society at the church. Her faith was very important to her and reading her Bible brought her great joy. Ruth also enjoyed events at the Dayton Senior Citizens Center and participated in Woodmen of the World. She, alongside of her husband, assisted with activities at the Marshall House and fundraising dinners for the Dayton Volunteer Fire Department. Ruth graduated from the Dayton High School in 1942 and for 20 years, prior to marriage, she worked in private homes caring for new babies, the sick and the elderly. Ruth's mission in life was to care for her family and her home, and she loved cooking and sewing. She treasured time spent with her children and with nieces and nephews who will always be thankful for the love and support she showed them throughout the years. Ruth's friends and family will remember her gentle and giving spirit and the love she showed to them. Everyone who knew her loved her dearly. Her memory will be cherished by her stepson, Rev. Glenn B. Ruby and wife, Evelyn, of Redondo Beach, Calif.; stepdaughter, Judith L. Stockstill, of Chicago, Ill.; 11 stepgrandchildren; 22 stepgreat-grandchildren; nine stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and sisters, Evelyn A. Schrecongost and husband Henry, of Fenelton, Pauline H. Orvis, of Kittanning, and Isabelle L. Hollenbaugh, of Chuckey, Tenn.; along with 36 nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 42 years, Willard Burton Ruby, who passed away Aug. 23, 2007; stepdaughters, Juanita Flagg and Joyce Takamatsu; and brothers, Ernest D. and William E. Hollenbaugh. Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at the BAUER-BLY FUNERAL HOME, 125 East Main St., Dayton. Additional visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25, 2014 at Dayton First Church of God, 1059 State Route 839, Dayton, with Pastor Kenneth Seidler officiating.
