Ruth A. Stanley Ruth A. Stanley 83 of Crab Orchard passed away at her home following a long illness, Thursday, October 1, 2009. Born October 26, 1925, she is the daughter of the late Clifton and Lucinda Wood Persinger. Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies. Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her. Proverbs 31:10 & 28. In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by brothers Clyde and Robert Persinger; infant sisters Joyce and June and sister Angela Snyder. Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 60 years Rev. Jim Stanley of Crab Orchard; daughters Lynne Murphy and husband Rev. Eric Murphy of Budapest, Hungary, Trish Barnhouse of Spencer, Debbie Williams and husband Mike of Mabscott; son Philip Stanley and wife Rosa of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren Jackie Bailey, Sherri Murphy, Paula Pulsifer, Ron Murphy, Carrie Preston, Ryan Barnhouse, Cheyne Barnhouse, Brian Williams, Brandon Williams, Morgan Seitz, Kayla Stanley, Nathan Cilli, Cassie Wright; 16 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; sisters Janie Cooper and husband Dick of FL, Shirley Markland of Washington State; brothers Kenneth Persinger of FL and Edgar Persinger of Crab Orchard; special friends Ginna Smith, Don Cooper and Bill Wilcox and Rev. Allen Herr; a host of nieces and nephews. The family would like to give special thanks to her caregivers Vicki and Agnes. Ruth enjoyed reading, poetry, art, nature and sewing. She was a former school teacher, a loving wife and mother and a member of the House of Prayer of Crab Orchard. Services will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, October 4, 2009 at Blue Ridge Funeral Home, Beckley with Rev. Jim Stanley and Rev. Eric Murphy officiating. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Friends may gather with the family Saturday from 6 – 8 PM at the funeral home.
