MOREHEAD – Ruth E. Sturgill, 81, passed away Monday, February 15, 2010 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center after an illness of several weeks.She was born on September 21, 1928 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James and Anna Thomas Sturgill.Ruth was a retired welder for the Ford Motor Company in Shelby, Ohio, where she worked for 40 years. She attended First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and was a member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary. Ruth enjoyed traveling, reading and spending time with her family and friends.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, James Phillip Sturgill, William Sturgill, Paul Sturgill and Charles "Chock" Sturgill and four sisters, Geneva Black, Helen Foster, Margaret Moore and an infant sister.Survivors include three sisters, Frances Kidd, Sarah Esther Allen and Regina Mack all of Morehead and several nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 20, 2010 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Molly Smothers officiating. Burial will follow in the Lee Cemetery. Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.Pallbearers will be Ron Walke, Ron Caudill, Wayne Caldwell, Shawn Allen, David Allen and Ray McClurg and honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Chris Weigel, Bill Hurst, John Collis, Bill Davis, Cliff Barker, Jack Bizzel, Larry Fannin, Nelson Grote and Gene Duncan.To view the online memorial and sign the guest book, please visit www.lanestuckygray.com.
