Ruth Tobash Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 9, 2024.
Ruth Virginia Tobash, née Mills, affectionately known as Ruthie, was called to her heavenly home on August 31, 2024, at the age of 72 in Surfside Beach, South Carolina. Born on August 21, 1952, Ruthie lived a life marked by kindness, loyalty, and an unwavering dedication to her family and friends.

Ruthie graduated from George Washington High School and carved a career in Human Resources most notably at Woodward & Lothrop where she was dedicated to the well-being of others. Her professional life was characterized by the same selflessness she displayed in her personal endeavors, always going above and beyond to assist her colleagues and clients.

Ruthie was an member of the United Methodist Church, where she found great solace and community. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her actions and interactions.

Beyond her professional and spiritual commitments, Ruthie was passionate about a variety of activities. She loved spending time at the beach, helping others, caring for animals, traveling, reading, and cherishing moments with her family and friends. Those who knew her often described Ruthie as a "firecracker" – energetic, loving, caring, and always ready to lend a helping hand or offer support. Known for her boundless energy and loving nature, Ruthie was a person who lived her beliefs, particularly the tenet of loving one's neighbors. Her compassionate spirit saw her open her heart and home to those in need, be they friends, strangers, or animals in search of refuge.

The legacy of her love is treasured by her loving husband, Stephen Tobash; her daughter, Susan Menton; and grandsons, Michael and Edward Menton. Ruthie now walks with the angels, joining her late parents, Olga and James Mills, and her brother, James Mills in eternal peace.

Family, friends and those touched by Ruthie are invited to gather in her memory for a service on September 30, 2024, at Jefferson Funeral Home, Rose Hill, VA, at 11 am. To honor Ruthie's passion for giving and her love of children, donations in her memory may be made to the Toby Keith Foundation OK Kids Korral (https://www.tobykeithfoundation.org/donations).

Ruthie's legacy of kindness, generosity, and love will forever resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know her. Together, we will bid farewell to a remarkable woman whose impact and kindness were immeasurable, and whose spirit will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Oh my dearest bestie, I am so saddened that we didn´t get more time together. In the same breath I am so grateful that we did get 2-1/2 weeks together this past August.

Our memories will keep me company until the day we meet again. I expect that yours will be one of the first faces that I see when it´s my turn.

Ruthie, you have been the very best friend a person could ask for. I will miss and love you forever, until we´re together again.
