Ruth Josephine Waller was born on Nov. 6, 1916, in Deerfield, Iowa, the daughter of Ed and Ruth (Schrieber) Welch. She was united in marriage to Robert Waller Sr. and the couple became the proud parents of a son, Robert Waller Jr.

Ruth was a devoted wife, homemaker and loving mother.

Ruth was a resident of the Rockford area for approximately 65 years and was an active member of Holy Name Catholic Church and the Holy Name Women's Group.

She treasured spending time with her family and found great joy in visiting elderly folks who lived near her, assisting them in any way she could.

Ruth was fond of being outdoors and appreciated nature. She enjoyed watching the birds, squirrels and rabbits outside her home, taking walks by the river and picking wild flowers. One of the highlights of Ruth's day was walking to the downtown restaurant in Rockford to visit with all the local residents.

Ruth will dearly be missed by all who have shared in her life.

She is survived by her son, Robert Waller Jr. and his wife, Linda Bow, of Harper, Texas; her granddaughter, Rachael Waller and her husband, Rod Rondeaux, and her great-granddaughter, Cheyenne. She will also be sadly missed by numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceding Ruth in death are her husband, Robert Waller Sr. in 1979; her parents, Ed and Ruth Welch; four sisters and one brother.

I spent many summer days in Rockford with my aunt & uncle Ruth and Doc Oldsen, and I remember Ruth Waller as a beautiful and classy lady. Ruth and Ruth were great friends and I felt so "grown up" when I was with them. I am sorry for your loss and am so thankful that she was in my life, no matter how long ago it was.

My deepest condolences to Ruth's family...while I do not know them I did know Ruth & Bob. While living in Rockford & working at Lynn Smith's office when he & Bob were associated in real estate, Bob was in and out of the office & often Ruth would come with him or come in looking for him. She was the true epitome of a "lady", always perfectly groomed and well spoken in that precise manner she had. However my most vivid memories are of Ruth & I sitting on Anna Vala's front porch. Anna at her treadle machine & her sister Lou Hermann in a chair doing hand work on some garment they were tailoring for someone (often Ruth or me) and we'd be rehashing the most recent events and in due time one of us would have a "fitting" in front of the big oval mirror in Anna's living room (if that mirror could talk, oh, the stories it could tell!!) Good people, good friends & good memories. I am so pleased to have known Ruth and to have had her for a friend. My sincere sympathy to each of you.
