Mrs. Ruthie Mae McCoy, 101, entered into rest Friday, June 23, 2017, at Augusta University Medical Center. Mrs. McCoy was a resident of Augusta for over 80 years.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, July 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from Antioch Baptist Church, 1454 Florence Street, Reverend K. B. Martin, pastor, Reverend Jonovan Harris and Reverend Clarence Moore officiating. Interment will be in Walker Memorial Park, Augusta, GA. The remains will lie in state at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service.

Mrs. McCoy was born August 24, 1915 in Berrien County, GA and lived over 85 years in Augusta, GA. She was a graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School, class of 1964. Mrs. McCoy was one of the founders of Second Mt. Moriah Baptist Church where she served as the church clerk. She was a singer and musician of church choirs in the Greater Augusta area; to include the Walker Baptist Choir and the Second Mt. Moriah Senior Choir. Mrs. McCoy served as President of the PTA for many terms at Charles T. Walker Elementary School. On her 100 birthday the Mayor and the city of Augusta honored her for all of her outstanding service over the years, by proclaiming August 24, 2015 as Ruthie Mae McCoy Day.

Mrs. McCoy was preceded in death by her husband, Reverend Robert L. McCoy, Sr.; her two sons, Norris P. McCoy and Robert Elzy McCoy, Jr.; all four of her sisters, and her two brothers.

Mrs. McCoy leaves to cherish her memories to her sons, Paul L. (Judy) McCoy and Chaplain Michael L. (Sharon) McCoy; two daughters, Mary Ruth McCoy Cunningham and Margaret Wilkes; one sister-in-law, Catherine McCoy. She also leaves ten grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends (today) from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Second Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, 1404 Brown Street, Augusta, GA 30901. Friends may call the funeral home for more information.
