Ruthie Williams Obituary
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ruthie Mae Williams, a beloved mother, grandmother, and sister. Ruthie was born on August 26, 1948 and is the daughter of the late Reverend Horace Sr. and Carrie Mickles-Mims. Ruthie departed this world on November 30, 2023, at the age of 75, succumbing to the embrace of natural causes.
Ruthie brought a symphony of warmth and love into the lives of those around her. Her love for music was as vibrant as her spirit, filling the air with melodies that will forever echo in our hearts. Whether it was the soulful tunes of the blues or jazz blasting from her record player or the rhythmic beats of r&b & hip-hop playing from her cassette tapes, music was a constant source of joy throughout her life.
In addition to her parents, Ruthie was proceeded in death by three sisters, Barbara Jean Mims-Ellman, Mary Ann Mims and Cynthia Louise Mims and one brother, James Mims. Together, they will continue to watch over and guide the family with the same love and grace they shared in life.
Ruthie is survived by four loving children, Sonya Mims, Teresa Williams, Eric Williams and Sylvia Williams; five sisters, Carrie Clinton, Christine Mims, Doris Anthony, June Christin (Larry), and Rolisha Mims, and two brothers, Horce Mims Jr. (Garlyn) and Lonnie Mims (Denise); 19 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
As we mourn the loss of Ruthie, let us also celebrate the legacy of love, laughter, and music that she leaves behind. May her soul find eternal peace, and may the memories of her radiant spirit continue to bring comfort to those who were privileged to know and love her.
Friends and family may visit with the family at Second Baptist Church, 757 E. 26th Street, on Thursday, December 14, 2023, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, where a home going celebration will take place. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Sylvia Williams in her honor and dropped off at Second Baptist Church.
