Hello,
We realize that we are very late to express our deepest condolences, but we wanted to let your family and friends know that we will be sending Care Packages to deployed troops this month and several of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Ryan H. Lane US Marine Sergeant.
We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.
We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.
Sincerely,

Never in a million years would I ever dream of writing to you in heaven as a means of communication. I miss you so much! I think of you almost everyday. Mostly, I think of my friend and her life without you. It makes me very sad. My heart aches for her and your family. I could never imagine what she or they could be going through. The day I lost you was the day I lost a brother. I dreamt you came to visit me and I know you were there. I felt you there. Please watch over Valerie. Keep her safe. Help her to move on and take one step at a time. She's strong, you know, but she still needs you in her life. I will keep memories of you in my heart forever. Please watch over Sean! He misses you so much as does everyone. Give Gram kisses for me and Eddie. I love you and miss you. Your legacy will live on forever in the hearts of those you knew.

We offer our heartfelt sympathy to the family and friends of Sgt. Lane and we honor his distinguished service to the cause of freedom and liberty. Sadly, America has lost one of its finest heroes, the U.S. has lost a friend and protector, and a family has lost an example of character and courage, which they will love and respect forever. Today, because of the sacrifice Sgt. Lane has made, the house of freedom is stronger, sturdier, and more secure.
To the family and friends, of Sgt. Lane, I would like you to know that a lot of people pray for you, and my hope is that their prayers will give you the strength necessary to carry on. Just as you were always with him when he was deployed overseas, know that he will always be with you wherever you may be. In the days to follow, may you be strengthened by the fact that Sgt. Lane was a man distinguished by exceptional courage and will always be admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities. You, your family and your sacrifice will never be forgotten.
"Our debt to the heroic men and valiant women in the service of our country can never be repaid, they have earned our undying gratitude. America will never, ever forget their sacrifices."
Sgt. Lane the flag of the United States of America has your blood sewn into the fabric; it shall forever wave in your honor.
Freedom requires sacrifice the protected will never know.

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I know only too well what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Grief is an individual journey, that unfortunately like my own self you now have to travel. It doesn’t matter how they died but how they lived that we should focus on. We know that each one in our military joined to make a difference in their own lives and to serve their country. Please know that each one no matter what is an American Hero and to be honored always and forever. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to hold your hand as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your life.

To the entire Lane family:
I have been trying to find the right words to express how I feel about your incredible loss. But then I realized, there are no words or actions that could accurately describe how deeply moved with emotion I have been since hearing of Ryan's death. I have such and incredible respect for anyone who serves or has served in our armed forces. They are the best in the world! It was truly my honor to have the opportunity to stand with respect for Ryan at his services, and to escort him to his final resting place. Thank you for opportunity to assure that his service was not interupted or otherwise disrespected by those with low moral character.
I pray that the good Lord surrounds your family with a loving peace and understanding that comes in knowing that all things no matter how painful at the time, serve to more perfectly complete the master's ultimate plan.

The Marine Corps Prayer
Almighty Father, whose command is over all and whose love never fails, make me aware of Thy presence and obedient to Thy will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and deed and helping me to live so that I can face my fellow marines, my loved ones and Thee without shame or fear.
Protect my family.
Give the will to do the work of a Marine and to accept my share of responsibilities with vigor and enthusiasm. Grant me the courage to be proficient in my daily performance. Keep me loyal and faithful to my superiors and to the duties my country and the Marine Corps have entrusted to me. Make me considerate of those committed to my leadership.Help me to wear my uniform with dignity, and let it remind me daily of the traditions which I must uphold.
If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again. Guide me with the light of truth and grant me wisdom by which I may understand the answer to my prayer.
Amen
My condolences to your wife and family. If me or my husband can be of any help please just email us. From one fellow marine's wife to another. You're in our hearts and minds

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to SGT. Ryan Lane our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Ryan. And to Ryan it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while opposing enemy forces in Afghanistan. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Ryan, you are a brave Marine Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,353 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Ryan’s family and loved ones. Semper Fi !

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.

If words could heal I would write for hours, but there are no words to quell your sorrow or to express how we feel for your loss. Your family has given so much to our community, and Ryan has given all to our Nation. God blessed you with such a good young man, may the memories of the time that he was with you warm your heart forever.

I'm a retired Air Force MSgt from New Hampshire. I didn't know Ryan or his family. I read "Honor the Fallen" at militarycity.com nearly every day, I guess it's my way of saying thank you to these young brave men and women. I hope you don't mind me adding this note to say that losses like Ryan, and others like him, don't go unnoticed elsewhere, regardless of the distance. May God bless and keep you all in this difficult time.

To Kathy;
I grew up in the neighborhood, and lived next to your grandparents. I did not have the honor of meeting Ryan, but my mom did, and she was the one to tell me of his passing. She and I want to extend our sympathy to you and your entire family. Ryan must have been a great man, to offer his service to keep me and my family safe. He is truly a hero, adn should be remembered as such.

You have been assigned to the Heaven Detachment. All of your brothers who have gone before you for the past 200 years will welcome you home. Your assignment there will be to guard Heaven's gates. We know they'll be in good hands.

How do you deal with the death of a child? Especially one who is fighting for our country so we can live our life and be safe and live out our dreams. Its not fair. He had dreams. Im sure. The enemies took them away. Its not fair. But I thank all the troops for letting all of us live our life. And Mr. Lane I dont know how you are doing it but my prayers are with you. Dave, mark, and Mikie, My thoughts and prayers are with you also. Sorry I couldn't be up there but your in our thoughts. Take care.

I am very sorry for your loss. How we all look forward to a time when both war and death will be no more, and the wonderful promise of God will be fulfilled: "And He will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more; neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain by anymore. The former things have passed away."

Harrold, Dawn and your loving family. When one sacrifices one's self doing what one loves, it is heart breaking for those of us that are left behind. But all our hearts and soles are reminded that his sacrifice and those of others, provides the freedom that we have to love and support one another. Our hearts, soles and prayers go out to you now and forever as we will be there for you. God bless you all
