Ryan Sinclair Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Oct. 11 to Oct. 12, 2022.
Ryan Alexander Sinclair, a beloved family member and a friend to each person he met, charmed all who knew him. Born in Dallas February 11th 2003, he died of complications from epilepsy on September 17th 2022 in Los Angeles at age 19.

A great day for Ryan was a day that included an adventure. In his short life, Ryan packed many escapades and hobbies into his days. A lover of people most of all, he enjoyed bike rides along the South Bay coast, golf cart rides over the Palos Verdes peninsula, and horse riding on the weekends. He loved visiting with friends and family around a fire pit enjoying a good sausage and s'mores.

Many vacations with his parents and "Team Ryan" were made memorable by his love and enjoyment of the outdoors: Camping and hiking across national parks, trails and parks across the Pacific Northwest, and his favorite destination the Columbia River Gorge. Ryan loved to travel with his "Momma," "Pappa," "Nan" and "Pops." From biking, boating, trains, flying and cruising to road-tripping, he loved it all, especially when it included picnics.

Ryan's nickname was "Future Boy": No matter what activity he was currently involved with, he would advocate for the next activity. While cycling, Ryan would ask for swimming. While swimming, Ryan would ask for horse riding. While horse riding, Ryan would ask for camping. Ryan was always thinking of his next adventure. Ryan had a passion to live his best life to the absolute fullest.

Of all his activities, cycling and skiing were his absolute favorites. With his tandem bicycle, Ryan would sit in front and pedal when he wanted - often that was when he was approaching picnic destinations. With his Bi-Ski piloted by his dad, Ryan was able to conquer blue and black diamond runs at speed. During a memorable trip to Mammoth Mountain, his dad was "gushing" how much Ryan loved skiing. But Ryan was straight face and did not appear happy at all on the first two "easy" runs of the day. The next run higher on the mountain had a 90 degree exit off the ski lift and a steep entry to the slope to the left of a huge boulder. Now Ryan was laughing with anticipation and excitement: He had been waiting for the steep slopes and speed! Ski lift operators and instructors quickly got to know him, and shouts of encouragement, "Go Ryan," were common across the mountains.

Well known for his radiant smile and quick laugh, Ryan attended Alta Vista and Lincoln Elementary, Adams Middle School, and Redondo Union High School, and was particularly interested in ASL, cooking, photography, and riding his bike. He made lifelong friends with fellow students and staff, who became a cherished part of his family and community. Ryan was a lover of life, and a passionate explorer. He would want others to carry on his determination to enjoy life to its fullest.

He leaves behind his parents, Kim and Dwayne, his brother Bo, grandparents Trevor (Pops) and Heather (Nanna) Rogers, John and Margret Sinclair, and Henia Sinclair. Ryan was predeceased by Tiffi, his beloved service dog. We love you and will always be proud of you, Ryan.

A private memorial will be followed by a public celebration of Ryan's life. Those wishing to join the celebration can gather for pizza and remembrances at 3 p.m. on Nov. 13 at the park next to the Point Vicente Interpretive Center. Please bring your own chairs or blanket for seating..

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Ryan's favorite organizations: United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC.org), Canine Companions for Independence (Canine.org) or Autism Society of Los Angeles (AutismLA.org) in memory of Ryan Sinclair.

May the beloved memory of Ryan Alexander Sinclair be an everlasting blessing, and his abiding spirit a loving guide for all of us who were privileged to know him. It was a consummate blessing for me to be able to jam with him at the NIH and Children's Inn. His memory and spirit live on - always. With sincerest condolences, Chaplain Michael Zoosman, NIH

We hope as you look down
All of this love gathered around
We hope you hear what people say
We hope you know the role you play
This space you leave no one can fill

You held the room, you cast a spell
You´ll always be remembered well

Though you´re not here with us
A part of you will always be.
We hear your laughter
We see your smile

We feel you near, once in a while.

We have only known Ryan from accounts shared with us of the great times his Pops and Nanna Rogers spent with him.
Grandparents share these wonderful occasions with their life-long friends and those friends also share in their times of grief and sorrow.
Oceans separate us but from afar we feel a deep sadness for the family and wish we could support everyone with our presence.
Ryan will always remain in our hearts. He was inspirational and we pray for the Sinclair family that God will be your strength and comforter.

We will always cherish Ryan´s radiant smiles. We feel so blessed to have shared fun times and and to have learned so much from him. He taught me how to say pizza in ASL, and how much joy there is in every moment.

He always made me smile. Still makes me smile when I think of him in the middle of everything wanting to meet everyone in the room. He lived his life to the fullest, thanks to loving and dedicated parents, and the village that surrounded him.
