Sabra Cleveland Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 22 to Mar. 23, 2023.
Sabra Packard Cleveland, 91, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2023 in Mercer Island, WA, surrounded by loving friends and family. Born on July 23, 1931 in Bronxville, New York to her late parents Sabra Beaumont Packard and William Guthrie Packard, Sabra attended Bronxville schools and graduated from Westover School in Middlebury, Connecticut. She attended Syracuse University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi.

Sabra was an adventurer, loved the outdoors and nature's beauty as introduced in her youthful years spent at Acadia Camp in Maine and Elkhorn Ranch in Montana. Her family and friends were very special to her as well as the mountains, the ocean and change of seasons. She was active both spiritually and physically, and spent her life instilling laughter and chutzpah into her relationships and the many volunteer positions she held.

Sabra raised three children in Port Chester, NY. She moved from New York to Bozeman, MT, and then to La Jolla, CA, where she met the love of her life, John Parker Cleveland. They moved to Bend, OR and were happily married for 20 years. Their adventures included hiking, international travel, Master track meets, and abundant volunteer commitments. Soon after Jack's passing in 2014, she moved to Covenant Living at the Shores in Mercer Island, WA. Continuing her adventurous spirit, she won Gold in the Walker Slalom event during the senior Olympics at Covenant shores. Her spirit was contagious and loved by all.

She is preceded in death by her three sisters: Sandy Sargent, Deborah McIlwaine, and Karen dePlanque; and survived by her three daughters: Anne Schad Verrill (Jeff) of Yarmouth, ME, Sarah Schad Lowe (Mark) of Port Hadlock, WA, and Sabra Schad Hellmer (Colin) of Sherwood, OR; four grandchildren: Emma, Christopher, Grace and Ian, and her beloved cat Arie.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at Covenant Living at the Shores fellowship hall on April 30th, 2023. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Assistance League of Bend, OR www.assistanceleague.org/bend/donate or PEO https://donations.peointernational.org EY chapter
