Sally Parker MacLeod Reichert

Sally and I were great friends for many years. We met at Windy Hill in Bridgehampton, New York, the magnificent estate of Jerome Hill and Charles Rydell where we were both inmates, along with our partners Marcus Reichert and Rudi Stern and a cast of characters that included actors Taylor Meade and Sylvia Miles, author Thomas Berger and filmmaker Lana Jokel. Those were some of the happiest times of my life. Together, we opened a store on Spring Street in SoHo and filled it with things we each made, her hand-painted silks and my hand-loomed knits. After we closed the shop, we'd buy a bottle of cheap wine from Ace Liquors next door and wait for friends to arrive. She was a tremendous support to me through many ups and downs. In recent decades we grew apart, as she moved to England, then France, and I to Italy, but I miss her just the same and always will.
