Sally Morse Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 19, 2009.
WELLFLEET — Sally D. Morse, of Wellfleet, died peacefully, surrounded by family and friends on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009.

Born in 1937, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Clarissa Bowers. Sally attended Arlington High School and after graduation she took a nursing course and worked in the North Shore Floating Hospital where she cared for infants. It was there she met her former husband, Bob Morse. Bob and Sally married and settled in Wellfleet to raise their family.

Sally was an avid reader who educated herself on a number of topics that interested her. She was a master in the art of astrology and worked for many years at Astrolabe. She practiced and was very knowledgeable about homeopathic medicine. A lifelong feminist, Sally always promoted women's rights and free speech. She was a follower of the Montessori School in education, and in 1974 implemented open classrooms in the Wellfleet Elementary School.

Sally greatly enjoyed dancing and was an accomplished tap dancer. She collected and surrounded herself with things of beauty. Sally loved the town of Wellfleet and took full advantage of its beautiful beaches. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sally is survived by a daughter, Heather Morse of Wellfleet; son Brad Morse and his former wife, Caroly Cosker, of Wellfleet, son Brett Morse and his wife, Kathleen, of Chatham, and son Kyle Morse and his wife, Stephanie Fields, of Eastham; grandchildren Kelsey Morse, Hanna Morse, Jonathan Morse and Sarah Morse of Wellfleet and Chatham; brother Rodney Bowers and his wife, Maryann, and three sons of California; and dear friends Maggie and McKayla Flanagan of Wellfleet. She was predeceased by sister Phyllis Bowers.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, in the Wellfleet Methodist Church, Main Street, Wellfleet. There will be a fellowship gathering after the service.

To the family of Sally Morse,

I remember your mother teaching me to swim 55 years ago at Long Pond. How patient she was to me. She loved Long Pond.

All the Kelly girls will miss her very much. We will keep your Mom and her family in our prayers.

Heather, Brad, Brett and Kyle,
I have known your family since 1946 when we stayed on Long Pond next door to the Bower's summer home! Sally, Rodney and the Kelly girls grew up together there for many years...at least until she was 18 and I was 16.
We remained friends (use to see her in
Arlington as we came from Stoneham) and
when she and Bob were getting married she asked me to the Maid of Honor. What a priviledge that was and what fun! We remained friends for many years until we both were married and we
had families to care for. This happens
to too many friends, but I did see her from time to time when we came to Wellfleet for a visit or vacation. We
had wonderful memories and fondly remember all the crazy things we did!

Please know that all of you are in our thoughts and prayers and hope the comfort of those around you will carry
you through these sad days. Just remember, she will always be in your heart. That I do know!!

As one of the Kelly girls of old, I think my sister Karen may be at the service tomorrow. Unfortunately we cannot make it, but we will be there with you in spirit.

Mom was a remarkable and loving woman.
She loved all of you with all her being and I pray that all those memories will never fail.

Our love to all of you,

Roger and Maureen (Kelly) Maloney
