Sak, Salome Rose (Sally Kurlenda) 82 years of age, born September 18, 1930, completed her journey to her Heavenly Home on October 7, 2012 surrounded by her caring and loving family. Salome Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Casimir and their Precious Angel, Michele Rose. Her parents, John and Rose Kurlenda, her brothers, Edward, Casimir, Leo Kurlenda, Stanley and Joseph Wos. Her sisters, Helen Funk and Mary Andrysiak. Sally Rose is survived by her daughters, Sally Jane (Eddie) Wojciakowski, Nancy Rose (Sak) Belke (Mike) and Lisa Rose Sak. Her sons, David Gerard (Kathy) Sak, Patrick John (Shannon) Sak and Michael Gerard Sak. She loved her children very much and always was a big part of their lives. She was the World's Greatest Busia Rose to her grandchildren; Michael (Amorena), John (Jennifer), Lisa (Josh), Sarah (Tony), David, Andrew, Kelley (Tyler), Ryan, Brandon and Megan Michele. Her great grandchildren, Cecelia, Josephine, Gabriel, and the joyous anticipation of another baby due in January. Also, she is survived by her sisters, Stephany Karpowicz and Lucy Ann Kaminski, and brother Daniel (Carol) Kurlenda. Sisters-in-law, Rose Marie Wos, Elaine Kurlenda, Peggy Kurlenda and Louise Miller. Brother-in-law, John (Carolyn) Sak. Goddaughters, Judy Ann Pontremoli and Sharon Wamser and Godson Eddie Funk. Many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and many dear friends. Salome attended St. Adalbert's grade school and graduated from Catholic Central High School in 1948. She retired from Grand Rapids Public Schools in 1988. She was a life member of the Polish Heritage Society and had a great love of Poland, which she had the wonderful opportunity to visit. She was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and the Altar Rosary Society. Mom enjoyed working in her yard and tending to her beautiful flower gardens. Family and friends thoroughly enjoyed Busia Rose's delicious Polish cooking and desserts. Sally Rose fought an 11 year battle with cancer, while being a strong and courageous woman who was an inspiration to all. Mom's reward is majestic in Heaven. Her strength and spirit will remain with all of us who knew her amazing and loving ways. The family will receive visitors at the Arsulowicz Brothers Remembrance Mortuary, 3525 Remembrance NW on Wednesday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm and Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Rosary will be prayed Thursday at 8:00 pm. The Mass of Christian Burial for Salome Rose will be held Friday 11:00 am at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 156 Valley Ave SW, where she will repose one hour prior to the Mass. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Mary Free Bed Hospital or State of Michigan Children with Special Needs Fund. The family would like to thank Dr. Carolyn Johnston of the University of Michigan Cancer Hospital, Faith Hospice, Dr. Gribbin and nursing staff at Lacks Cancer Center.
